Philip Astley – Circus Inventor
This engaging guided walk will tell the story of the life and legacy of Philip Astley, father of the modern circus. This event forms part of wider celebrations of the 250th anniversary of Philip Astley’s invention.
On 14th September 2018, Andrew Van Buren, Philip Astley expert and internationally renowned performer, will be your guide. This brand new heritage walk, developed for the 2018 Heritage Open Day, will share recent research into Philip Astley’s connection to Newcastle-under-Lyme. This research has been carried out by a dedicated team of Brampton Museum volunteers and staff.
