Circus Film Season: La Strada

Ray Johnson MBE presents …

La Strada (1957, Director Federico Fellini).

Described by the American Film Institute  as “one of the most influential films ever made”, come and watch Federico Fellini’s Oscar-winning classic, Starring Anthony Quinn, Richard Baseheart, Guiletta Masina. Mingling elements of biography, metaphor and symbolism – we follow the hard work and emotional pressures of small-scale touring circus life. It combines charm with the hard-edged realism of domestic violence and decaying, desolate towns – and volcanic tempers erupt with tragic consequences.

Following the screening, Ray Johnson will host a lively discussion of issues raised in the film.

Part of our mini-season of circus films to celebrate Philip Astley and the 250th anniversary of circus, La Strada will appeal to film students, circus enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys good film and discussion!
