AstleyFest 2021 was held on Saturday 7th August 2021 in Newcastle under Lyme Town Centre and was managed by the amazing Appetite and Van Buren Organisation on behalf of the Philip Astley Project CIC.

AstleyFest is an annual event celebrating the military hero, original Ringmaster and creator of the modern circus Newcastle under Lyme born Philip Astley, whose legacy lives on through not just circus but also its influence in cinema, theatre, television, art and literature.
2021 marks 253 years from when Philip Astley with his wife Patty in 1768 started the process of creating the modern circus, set in a 42 ft diameter ring with horses and human performers, including acrobats, jugglers, rope walkers, strong men and magicians, AstleyFest sets out to celebrate aspects of Philip Astley’s life and legacy in a contemporary way.
