“After years of campaigning, I am so pleased that at last Philip Astley’s name is coming to the forefront of history again, not only in his birthplace of Newcastle-under-Lyme but also on the world stage. For the circus industry and for his birthplace, Philip Astley is our Shakespeare.”
Philip Astley is our Shakespeare.
“This wonderful permanent tribute to Philip Astley & his work in creating the modern day circus 250 years ago is of great importance. It is not only important to the circus industry past, present & future, but it should point greater awareness to his birthplace of Newcastle-under-Lyme”. – Andrew Van Buren
